One is rarely enough. In a study of 22 patients treated three times at one to three month intervals, the photographic pore score fell from 3.55 to 2.59. We plan two to three sessions as a set, usually four to eight weeks apart.
It is not painless. We apply topical anaesthetic fully before starting and split the output over tender areas such as the nose. You are never asked to endure it. Tell us and we adjust on the spot.
It varies by person. Barrier function measured by water loss has been reported to rise for one to three days and return to baseline by day seven. On the day of treatment we send a record and aftercare notes to your phone, and call the next day.

Rarely. In a six-month follow-up of 20 patients with Fitzpatrick III-IV skin, melanin index and melasma severity did not change. The risk does rise with darker skin and higher output, so settings are chosen with skin tone in mind.
